Which side, with contracts?

Postby KanyeBest » Fri Mar 09, 2012 2:32 am

In a league where you can keep everyone at their real-life salaries as long as you want if you stay under a $140 cap, which side would you want?

Roy Halladay, $20 this year, $20 next year, $20 vesting option in 2014.
Travis Hafner, $13 this year, $13 club option next year.

or

Jon Lester, $8 this year, $12 next year, $13 club option in 2014
Hak-Ju Lee, $1 for the next 3-4 years.

Lester and Lee. Hafner is pretty much dead money and Lester is decent at that price.

Lester side all the way. I am not paying Hafner $13,thats just dead money.

Can you do the trade and then cut Hafner and save the money. If so I may consider that.

Lester and Lee easily. Hafner's contract is horrible.

Well, yeah, they're based on real life contracts after all. I guess I won't take the deal. My thinking was I have plenty of cap space, so I can afford to take on Hafner if it means upgrading from Lester to Halladay. I guess in a dynasty Lester is more valuable and Halladay is less valuable though?

I can cut Hafner but it would cost me $10 this year and $8 next year.

What about this:

Roy Halladay, $20 this year, $20 next year, $20 vesting option in 2014.
Travis Hafner, $13 this year, $13 club option next year.
Justin Masterson, $4 this year.

or

Jon Lester, $8 this year, $12 next year, $13 club option in 2014
Hak-Ju Lee, $1 for the next 3-4 years.
Francisco Liriano, $6 this year.

Right now I'm 93/140 in terms of cap space, so I can afford to take on Hafner's bad contract. My main issue with this trade is Hallday's possible age-related decline and Lester's upside with that contract.

This is a dynasty league with contracts based on real-life salaries. I can keep these guys as long as I want. Will Halladay be better than Lester over the next 3 years? Is Masterson for real?
