Keeper Question - WHIR

Postby jbird669 » Thu Mar 08, 2012 9:21 am

I'm in a 5x5 Roto Auction League, $260 in-season cap. We roster 26 players (C, 1B, 2B, 3B, SS, 5 OF, 9 P, 5 BENCH). We can keep up to 10 players. The first year you add $1 to salary, and every subsequent year you keep a player the increase doubles. Here is my roster and my keepers are bold:

Wieters, Matt(C) BAL C 12
Martinez, Victor(C) DET C 20
Freeman, Freddie(1B) ATL 1B 4
Ackley, Dustin(2B) SEA 2B 3
Beltre, Adrian(3B) TEX 3B 12
Bourjos, Peter(OF) LAA OF 2

Fowler, Dexter(OF) COL OF 8
Hunter, Torii(OF) LAA OF 17
Joyce, Matt(OF) TB OF 3
Kendrick, Howard(2B,OF) LAA OF 6
Walker, Neil(2B) PIT DH 6
Encarnacion, Edwin(1B,3B) TOR U 4
Belt, Brandon(1B,OF) SF BN 3
Escobar, Yunel(SS) TOR BN 4
Johnson, Kelly(2B) TOR BN 9
Swisher, Nick(OF) NYY BN 12
Beachy, Brandon(P) ATL P 3
Gallardo, Yovani(P) MIL P 32

Harang, Aaron(P) LAD P 2
Hernandez, Felix(P) SEA P 31
Lilly, Ted(P) LAD P 12
McCarthy, Brandon(P) OAK P 4
Myers, Brett(P) HOU P 11
Spence, Josh(P) SD P 2
Anderson, Brett(P) OAK BN 6
Carrasco, Carlos(P) CLE BN 3
Thornton, Matt(P) CHW BN 9

I can keep one more, but I am not sure if I should. If I did, I'm thinking it's either Swisher or Brandon McCarthy. I think I can get McCarthy cheaper in the auction. What do you think? I will gladly help in return.

Belt @$3 if he makes the team. Otherwise, Mccarthy. Even if you may get him cheaper, it would only be $2. And, depending on your league setup, he may go for more- and he's worth it.

Thanks for the reply. I don't understand your statement about Mccarthy, though. Only get him $2 cheaper at auction? I could get him for $1.

I can't wait to see if Belt makes the team as my keepers are due tomorrow by 11:59pm.

Joyce @ $3 isn't bad, but if you don't need to, I wouldn't keep anyone else

I'd also consider Bourjos at 2 that's dirt cheap for 20/20 man.
