If I don't fill my M. I. positions early in our draft what do you think about Espinosa, Kipnis, J. Weeks, Barney, and Cuddyer as 2nd basemen? How about Cozart, Peralta, Hardy, Gordon, and Desmond at short? Can I compete with my 2 starting middle infielders as later round (late teens to early 20s) picks? Are there any other sleepers you guys can suggest? thanks
I usually find myself picking from these very groups of players. It's really dependent upon the league settings as to which way I go & where my strengths are by the time I get around to picking from these guys. I have found myself drafting Gordon in most leagues. It's not just the Dodger homer in me. I just feel like you're getting Michael Bourn like production from your SS. So generally I would attempt to construct my roster with a ton of power in anticipation of adding Dee's 40-60 steals. I think that he's going to hit for avg and that he should score a fair amount of runs.
I have another league where we use OPS and SLG on top of the normal categories. This makes sluggers extremely valuable. I would target Peralta or Hardy in leagues like this. Espinosa and Cuddyer also make sense at 2B. Though normally at 2B my latter round target is often Kelly Johnson. I think that he plays in most any format.
Unless I can get Tulo or Hanley I'll most likely be waiting on SS this year, same with 2B. Kipnis, Cuddyer, J. Weeks, KJ, Hill, Altuve are some guys I like at 2b. Aybar, Cozart, C Pennington, Aviles, Lowrie at ss.
Hal·la·day, n. 1. every fifth day in Philadelphia. 2. a day of rest for the bullpen. 3. innings eater. 4. doc. 5. ace.
Thanks guys! It is reassuring to see others think the same way. I have a very good idea what I am doing in Fantasy Football but I never feel comfortable with my approach in Fantasy Baseball. I guess it is the multi-category thing that gets me or else the sheer number of players active on the team on any given day. I don't find myself posting anything other than questions on this site because I don't feel that I can give informed opinions.
