too much for a closer?

20 team league got no closer was offered this:

Mariano and D. Young for Pence and Porcello, take it? yes or no?

Getting rid of Porcello is no biggie as he is a low end starter. But, I really like Pence this year and he gives you consistent numbers all around. Mariano is still a top closer but I hate Delmon and think he is basically worthless. I think the drop off from Pence to Young is too much to do the deal. Just wait it out a little. Those guys who drafted 3 closers will be panicking and ready to trade sooner or later and you will be able to fine a WW closer I am sure once the season starts. Seeing your roster would help answer this question too but for what it's worth I wouldn't take it.

I think you have to wait it out. Closers are easier to find than OF like Pence.

I like Pence alot, especially in a deep league. Mariano is still an elite closer, but I assume this is a keeper and its likely that Mariano is retiring at the end of this year, so you are trading Pence for a one year rental. I wouldn't do it.

This. With a 20-team league you could find one gem out there and find yourself in the middle of the pack. I'm guessing that a lot of setup guys are already on rosters as well. Do you have any? What about checking in on guys like VInnie Pestano or Addison Reed?

I agree with the thinking here. Several closers will come around due to injury, performance, etc.
