Mat Gamel Is Worth a Buck, Right? (salary cap)

12 team h2h 5 x 5 $255 cap, we use the set prices from Sporting News with a few little twists. I have $31 left so I can go different directions...

Long story short, take Gamel for bench depth (backing up Konerko and Votto) or start stocking up my 3-player minor league "farm"?

Most of the top prospects are still available, but I think Gamel may be worth the dollar here.

C- Je. Montero $5 (cheaper b/c I brought him up)
1b - Votto $16 (1 half price player, can't cut if we take the discount)
2b - R. Weeks $23
3b - Moustakas $8 (discount, brought up)
ss - Tulowitzki $31
OF1- Swisher $8
OF2- Heyward $15
OF3 - McCutchen $29
DH- Konerko $21
SP1- Bumgarner $20
SP2 - Beachy $8 (discount, brought up)
SP3- Da. Hudson $18
SP4- Luebke $11
SP5- C. Sale $4
RP1 - B. Myers $2
RP2- J. Guerra $2

BN1 Jurrjens $3
BN2 Jo. Santana $3
BN3 M. Aviles $2 (elgbl. for 2B, SS, 3B, and OF in this league!)
BN4
BN5
BN6
BN7

I like him a lot this year. I was a little disappointed when I didnt get him in my draft. A buck is a great deal for him

Good risk/reward on Gamel for a buck here.

Split the difference he could easily put up a 268/35/90 season (think Dunn) splitting his mashing in the minors and struggles with the big club. Someone has to step up protect Braun and provide offense for them and they have that in Gamel plus adding Aramis.

Thanks for posting your roster. I would look to add 2 more upside/cheap SP and a 4th OF with good speed. Any speedy OF left? You need OF depth and some speed to play on off days or in case of an injury. Also, your SP lacks so you need to tkae some chances on some young talent. I'd also fill your farm with 3 top notch ptiching prospects.
The best there is, the best there was, and the best there ever will be!
