Which SP to target in a keeper?

Postby Knights » Tue Mar 06, 2012 7:52 pm

18-team 6x6 H2H category keeper league - keep 6 players.

I've just acquired Brett Lawrie for my 3rd round pick. That makes my current keepers Pedroia, Hanley, Lawrie, Beltran, Ethier (with Ike Davis down) and Garza. Ideally I'd like to add a 2nd SP to my list of keepers, probably in place of Ethier.

I know for sure that the following SP can be had in trade, but the teams would only really want picks in return. Keep in mind that these SP are available because they don't crack their owner's top 6 keepers, so a half-decent pick could nab them. How would you rank these pitchers, and what type of pick should I be expecting to have to give up to acquire them?

Madison Bumgarner
Ian Kennedy
Brandon Beachy
Gio Gonzalez (asking price is a 6th round pick)

I don't mind Gio Gonzalez for the asking price of a 6th rounder, but he's not necessarily my favourite option. So I'm curious if I'm showing too much personal bias in the matter and want to see how other rank these pitchers and what round pick would be fair compensation.

Bumgarner is the best on that list by far, I'd see what it takes to get him. Anything 4th round or later would do it for me. Gio as a 6th rounder isn't bad but I'd probably go after beachy before him as well.

If Gio is a 6th round pick. Then Madison would be a 4-5th rounder. Then Beachy > Kennedy as a 5-6th rounder. Then Gio at 6th. That would be how I would rank them.
