On the Block: VMart

Postby Mateo de Lorenzo » Tue Mar 06, 2012 5:53 pm

So, I won my dynasty league last year, and hope to be in contention this year and next, but am looking to start a mini rebuild by putting VMart on the block to get some youth and/or prospects. I have had some interest, so I thought I would check here and get people's input.

A manager asked me to look at his roster and see who it would take. I don't want to ask for too much, but I also wanna get as much as I can.

Any help is appreciated. Here is his current roster:

Emilio Bonifacio
Peter Bourjos
Jay Bruce
Miguel Cabrera
Edwin Encarnación
Carlos González
Austin Jackson
Kelly Johnson
Evan Longoria
Carlos Quentin
Colby Rasmus
José Reyes
Chase Utley
Matt Wieters

Brett Anderson
John Axford
Daniel Bard
Rafael Betancourt
John Danks
Yovani Gallardo
Cole Hamels
Félix Hernández
Phil Hughes
Craig Kimbrel
Colby Lewis
Francisco Liriano
Iván Nova
Jarrod Parker
Chris Pérez
Sergio Romo
Justin Verlander

I was thinking of asking for Colby Rasmus and Jarrod Parker? Is that a fair trade?
Please help me with analyzing my team? viewtopic.php?f=29&t=433592

Not saying VMart won't be useful next year, but at 34 and coming off ACL surgery, he might only qualify as a DH. I'd say move him for anything of value. If you could get Rasmus/Parker...giddy up!

If you could get both of those players, then I think you win big. I honestly don't know what the value is for VMart because he will miss the entire year so I am not sure why someone would give all that much for him.

I also like Wieters but again not sure if that would happen.

I like your offer idea with buying low on Rasmus and hoping VMart's name will allow a throw in of Parker. I agree that this trade idea, as well as nearly any trade offer, will be great for you considering VMart's status and age.

I would keep him over getting Rasmus/Parker.

The #1 rule of negotiating is to have the other party make the first offer. Who knows ... he may offer way more. I'm not so sure that Parker/Rasmus is quite enough for me though. If I could stash him I would take my chances for next season. Even if he is DH only his bat plays well. V-Mart is an RBI machine and the idea of him with Fielder/MCab ahead of him is spicy!

I like you getting Bonafacio who will give you solid production score 100 runs and steal 35-40 bases this year and give you one year of SS eligibility plus he has OF eligibility that Rasmus already has. How about his Bona/Parker I like that better.
