We have 2 rookie/minor league keeper roster spots, which allows us to protect (extra keepers) these players until they no longer qualify as rookies per MLB guidelines. I currently have Jesus Montero as one of my rookies and need to replace Craig Kimbrel, who was my 2nd last season. The other carryovers from last season are Bryce Harper, Mike Trout, Anthony Rizzo and Yonder Alonso, and are not available to be drafted. I have the #6 pick and it's pretty certain neither Yu Darvish or Matt Moore will fall to me. Except for Pujols (32) and Sabathia (31), my regular keepers are all in their mid to late 20's, so no immediate positional needs. If available, who should I take?

My league also has a minor league draft and my strategy has always been to pick players closer to appearing in the majors (AA or AAA players only). They are more likely to hlep you this year if you need them and a lot can go wrong with players further away from the majors.
I agree Matt Moore and Darvish should be #1 & 2, then I'd rank them: 3. Parker - should come in and perform well right away thanks to Oakland's pitcher friendly park 4. Teheran 5. Miller 6. Bauer
Watch Turner and Cespedes this spring to see if they look ready to contribute, if so they could challenge these rankings. And I'd have no problem picking Machado or Profar if they are available since keeper SS's would be at a premium, but like I said I'd lean towards picking someone who helps sooner. Hultzen and Skaggs are players I like. Mesoraco won't help you much since you have Montero already. Can you start using Montero now and pick two players?
