I have Jim Johnson and Johnny Venters as my RP so far. I know....not good. I have guy who has a few closers and is offering Thornton and Soria for someone. Who should I offer on my team or should I just wait it out? All closers are gone now in the draft. 5x5 roto style, 16 teams.
My Team So Far: Ike Davis David Wright Ryan Braun Mike Morse David Price Jim JOhnson Johnnny Venters BJ Upton Jemile Weeks Rickie Weeks Logan Morrison James Shields Ervin Santana Emilio Bonifacio Ryan Roberts
I'd look to trade Rickie Weeks because I think Jemile won't have the power but will be a good source for steals and maybe even runs. If his average stays above .300 like he did for most of last season then u might be good at 2B. Aside from that, you can be certain that at least a few closer jobs will be filled by guys during the season that are not currently slotted there now. Just be quick on the waiver wire to jump on the Oakland, Houston, and maybe even White Sox situation amongst others.
I would wait it out. RP is the most volatile position. By opening day, we are sure to have some waiver wire specials. Plus the trade market will improve slightly once some baseball is played and people start to panic.
I would finish the draft and then see where your team is at. At that point you will know where your depth is to trade from or if you don't have enough depth to just wait and grab a closer/setup man off the WW.

I'd sit tight as well. I don't see a lot of redundancy on your team, so I can't advocate getting rid of any of your position players at this point. Pick up some set up guys and hope they can win the job. After the season starts, pay close attention to teams with questionable closer situations.
If you can swing this - I would do it. Otherwise I agree with everyone else and think you sit tight for now. There are closers that lose their job very early on through injury/crapness - just keep your eyes peeled.

Yeah, hold tight for now. Thornton couldn't seal the deal last season and Reed is there to grab the closer role if he struggles again. If Soria could be had on the cheap, perhaps, but I'd take some fliers on RP's on teams with unsettled closers. Speaking of Addison Reed, is he available?
