My dynasty league is expanding from 10 to 12 teams this year and my infield is looking bad. I would like to keep them all just to see who pans out but we are only keeping 22 players. Here's who I have:
C: Buster Posey, Salvador Perez, Ryan Lavarnway 1B: Albert Pujols 2B: Jason Kipnis, SS: Hanley Ramirez, Dee Gordon, Zack Cozart 3B: Jed Lowrie RF: Nelson Cruz, Jay Bruce CF: Brett Gardner, Mike Trout, Colby Rasmus LF: Josh Hamilton, Alex Gordon
SP: Felix Hernandez, Tim Lincecum, Cole Hamels, Adam Wainwright, Brandon Beachy, Matt Moore, Derek Holland
RP: Ryan Madson, Jonny Venters, Kenly Jansen, Chris Perez, Joe Nathan
that's 20 leaving just 2 more slots. I am leaning Cozart/Perez? Or should I dump Perez and keep an extra hitter?
I know I'm going to sound like a Ranger homer, but I truly believe Derek Holland will take the next step this season. He will pitch like an ace. I'd be trying to find a way to keep him in a dynasty league.
Holland for sure. I don't think Perez and Nathan will last all year myself. Pestano looks good, and Perez was terrible last year. I guess Nathan, but i don't like him either. But Texas did commit 2 years to him.

I like Holland too but my starting pitching is stacked for a 10 team let alone 12. If I keep him I will be shopping one of my top three, any suggestions there? If I could get Pablo Sandoval for Hamels or Linececum is that worth doing?
Keep Cozart b/c you'd move Hanley to 3b to cover that hole and have a platoon of 2 good young SS Cozart and Gordon each will give you speed/power respectively. That's one slot.
Now for the other. Chris Perez isn't bad as a closer. I trust him over an injury prone and old Nathan. So I'd keep the second closer just to be safe. You have sick pitching and Holland would never start for you. He's solid though I could see you keeping him over a closer but a SP is more easily replacable early on than a sure fire (SOS) closer.
The best there is, the best there was, and the best there ever will be!

No
Perez might keep his job, but i think he is terrible. His K/9 dropped to 5.88. His xFIP was 5.01.
Holland will be better then Cozart.

Keep Holland. I'd say it is a toss up for the last spot between Lowrie and Cozart. This time last year Lowrie was the sleeper Cozart is this time around. Lowrie's 3B eligibility might come in handy. Tough call, but I'd roll the dice with Lowrie.
I'm glad I'm not one of the two expansion teams in your league with everyone else keeping 22 players!!!
