Using ADP lists or individual rankings to compare two sides of a trade (and treating those numbers like the deciding factor in the trade) is pretty stupid. How often have you gotten a trade proposal and the person offering it says something like "this is a good trade for you, I'm giving up the 134th and 66th ranked players for the 140th and 90th! Super deal!"
Uh, yeah. Problem is, those ranks and lists mean nothing when it comes to actual teams in actual leagues. For one thing, most of those lists are geared towards vanilla leagues - 12 team roto 5x5. Keeper settings, extra categories, more/less teams - all that changes the rankings quite a bit. As does the COMPOSITION OF YOUR INDIVIDUAL TEAM. Which is the most important thing.
Trades have to be judged on an individual basis. "Is this making my team better?" is the right question. "Who is getting the most value?" or "who is getting the better deal?" are less helpful.
You came here looking for justification in your opinion that the trade is unfair.
Instead, every single person that has commented on this thread has told you that there's nothing veto-able about it.
Now you seem to have chosen to get upset with us for not agreeing with you.
Again....I'd suggest finding a league that doesn't allow trading. You'll save yourself a lot of frustration, and you won't ruin the league you are currently in by voting against trades for no rational reason.
The only way I veto a deal is if there is clearly collusion or if it's so off the charts it harms the competitive balance of the league. I see neither here with this trade. No one can predict what these guys will do in the future, so if the trading partners are okay with the deal then let it stand.
Why are you stopping there? There's more players in the deal.
If you really want to use just last year's end-of-season rankings here, then actually use them.
Halladay 7th Niese 480th Choo 583rd
Bruce 59th Papelbon 77th Feliz 156th
Looks like your logic shows the Bruce side is the clear winner.....[/quote]
Says it all. Quite arguable Side A wins and therefore non-veto. This is one of my favorite threads in a long time. I think that kid's got some feelings for Doc that surpasses man-crush.
