Since Bauer is replacing Saunders in the rotation, do you guys think this is a temporary move? Or does Bauer keep the spot in the rotation once Saunders is healthy?

Will probably depend on if he can keep from walking 4 or 5 guys per start.

This. I believe he will be solid in ERA and K's but wont sport a pretty whip. I am hoping he will be a great #3 at least. Just lost Gio in a trade, then beachy's injury hits me the week after.
I understand Bauer has to show some consistency and not walk like 6 batters a game, but with Daniel Hudson most likely needing Tommy John ... does this cement his place in the rotation?

You would have to think that it wouldn't hurt. I'm speculating here, but if Arizona finds themselves out of it in September, do they shut him down?

its interesting, because the book on him is that he has a rubber arm and it is ready for a major league season. he had a lot of different training habits that developed arm strength. It will be interesting to see how Arizona plays this. especially since they probably will be a playoff contender at that time.
I think we're seeing what can be expected of Bauer moving forward this year (and maybe next): high K rate, high pitch counts, high WHIP, decent ERA. I know it's just his first start, but the resemblances to (present-day) Tim Lincecum can't be ignored.
I know he'll get better. Just don't be expecting a fantasy ace anytime soon.
