Yahoo Division and Playoffs

Postby MorseOverTaveras » Sun Mar 04, 2012 3:31 am

I am in a 10 man H2H league on Yahoo. I have set up 2 divisions with 5 teams in each. What we specifically want is to have the top 3 teams from each divisions to make the playoffs. I am pretty sure now that there is no such option in Yahoo settings, and it will only allow the top division winners and all other top ranked team (regardless of divisions) to make the playoffs.
So is there any practical solution to this? I've have seen mention of a commish tool that will allow for manual team selections for the playoffs, but I am not really sure of such tool. If not, then we will just resort to having no divisions at all.
Thanks.

If you have two divisions, the division winners and the two best records make the playoffs. If you have just one division, the four best records make the playoffs. It would be the same teams. One division does not solve your problem. == If you have the two top teams in each division make the playoffs, there is a good chance one of the second place teams would have the fifth best record and a better team would not make the playoffs. The way Yahoo has it setup is the way to go.

I believe I misspoke in another thread. I was pretty sure we had implemented a league setting for different ways of defining who made the playoffs. But I don't play h2h personally, and I was confusing such a setting for a few others we have implemented recently. While we don't have a setting to define which teams make the playoffs:

- We now have a setting that determines how the playoff teams are *seeded*. Options are "Division winners awarded top playoff seeds", "Division winners advance, but seeded by overall standings", and "All teams seeded by overall standings"

- We now have a setting that determines whether or not teams should be reseeded after each playoff round
