Rebuild

Postby canada23 » Sat Mar 03, 2012 1:36 am

Took over a keeper team that was going nowhere soon. So I decided to completely sell all players worth something and rebuild through youth and potential. We keep 16 each year.

Original team

Robert Andino
John Buck
Coco Crisp
Edwin Encarnacion
Andre Ethier
Maicer Izturis
David Ortiz
Juan Pierre
Juan Rivera
Alex Rodriguez
Marco Scutaro
Vernon Wells

John Axford
A.J. Burnett
Bruce Chen
Aaron Harang
Rich Harden
Philip Humber
Brandon League
Roy Oswalt
Jake Westbrook

Team Now

J.P. Arencibi
Mike Carp
Jason Kipnis
Edwin Encarnacion
Robert Andino
Seth Smith
Coco Crisp
Vernon Wells
David Ortiz
Travis Snider
Yonder Alonso
Danny Valencia

Aaron Harang
Philip Humber
Guillermo Moscoso
Homer Bailey
Jason Motte
Mark Melacon
Phil Hughes
Bud Norris
Sam LeCure

Thoughts?

Also, opinions on Tyler Skaggs and Anthony Rendon? Any potential for this season?

How many teams in this league? Format?

you are braver than me. Can't imagine how many years of rebuiding this will take,I hope you have some way of trading draft picks for keepers or something. I just wouldn't want to manage a team where theres maybe 1 top 100 player and no quick fixes and many years of being a cellar dweller. this looks like no fun at all

Ya it could take awhile, but I'm looking forward to the challenge. Hoping for a couple surprises but I think in the next year or so, some of these guys could be decent players. Arencibia, Yonder Alonso,Kipnis, Valencia, Snider, and Andino are all close and I'm 1 or 2 at least turn out to be good players. Pitching little weak now, but Moscoso, LeCure, and Hughes decent options with potential in my opinion. Hughes should bounce back from last year.

That's a headache! Hopefully, you have another team this year. Anyways, I would suggest either using projections (search within this site) and draft the best possible talent and breakout prospects, then hope for trades. Second, dig a hole, pretend your an ostrich. :-D
Best of luck in the future with this one. (Wise drafting!)
