This is my first post in here and look forward to checking in here this season!
Question is, what SP would you draft? I am in a 10 Team keeper and we are to protect 10 players, looking at most rosters it looks like SP is going to be the highest value top picks in the draft. Here are a few that will be picked in the first couple rounds and I want opinions on who you think would be the best pick.
Shields Darvish Moore Garza Beachy Latos
Stats are W K ERA WHIP - no auction or dollar values in this league
For this year I would prefer Shields. Keeper wise it's really close but I think I would go with Moore, although with the volatility of pitcher injuries it's a real toss up.
Here's the pitch on the way, a swing and a belt! Left field! Way back! BLUE JAYS WIN!
Shields - besides last year he really didn't do anything amazing, he had high Ks, extremely high ERA, with decent wins Darvish - high risk, could be great, could be a flop, in JAPAN, which is comparable to the minors, he K'd over 270 winning 18 and walking very little Moore - high risk, not enough innings, he will need more experience before becoming an all star Garza - high Ks, high ERA, could be a 200K+ guy, but hasn't done it yet Beachy - has about a season's worth of innings under his belt and has an insane K/9 ratio and good ERA, tremendous upside to this guy, but still slightly risky considering his experience Latos - got unlucky with wins last year, but has high Ks and a decent ERA
With the list I would probably keep Shields and try to dish him out before the season starts. His current value is relatively high, but only take him if you want to move him, he will probably perform on par or worse than Garza this year, like he usually does.
I would keep Darvish if you want to keep the guy for years to come, it's a risk, but he is 25, moving into his prime, and has tremendous upside. Even if he has trouble adjusting this season, I predict that he will eventually become a top 10 easy. Oh and if you want to see his stats, here they are, notice how he is getting better and better every year:
I would probably take Darvish as he has the most upside. I wouldn't be opposed to trading him mid-season either if he is hot the first half. After that it would be something between Moore and Beachy and probably in that order.

Curious to why you say Darvish has more upside then Moore? Maybe he does, but i expect a bit less from him then Moore or Beachy.

I like Moore and Beachy. Only thing with Moore and Shields is the AL East and my rule of thumb is when in question take the NL pitcher due to the DH.
I like what I hear and read about Darvish but guys coming from Japan always scare me and often end up one or two year wonders at most - Kuroda, Daisuke, Nomo ect ect
I have a week to decide, maybe other options will be there to but for now I think Beachy or Moore could be leading the pack.
