should I trade away 3B Ryan Zimmerman to get OF Jay Bruce?
1st time in this 16 team keeper league. we protect 10 players, then keep 5 before the draft. my protected 10.. David Price, Ryan Zimmerman, Paul Konerko, Dan Uggla, Adam Jones, Brandon Beachy, Ichiro, Mariano Rivera, Brandon Belt, Max Scherzer, Ryan Roberts. (I have 11 because I traded my 2nd round pick for Zimmernan and his 8th round pick). I've been hoping to trade Uggla for a good draft pick, and then draft a lower tier 2B option with speed. I have 2 1st round draft picks (3rd overall and 12th overall). 2 8th round picks and 2 12th round picks. no 2nd round, no 3rd round, and no 5th round.
my concern is that 3B is shallow. I think these 3B will be kept.. MCabrera, HRamirez, Bautista, Wright, Longoria, Lawrie, Youkilis, Beltre, ARod, ARamirez.
I think these 3B will be available in the draft.. Sandoval, MYoung, Reynolds, Freese, Moustakas, RRoberts, Prado, Headley, Encarnacion, ect.
I think Bruce's upside is higher than Zimmernan, so should I trade this 3B Zimmerman to get OF Bruce?

To me it's simply what I've learned from scouring the rankings....Zimmerman is ranked about the average of around 49 overall and Bruce about 62 overall. Plus, the position scarcity factor you mentioned.
Unless you beleive in guys like Moustakas etc., the other top 3rd will most likely be kept by your opponents.
In all fairness, we keep 4 and Zimmerman was thrown back and not kept by his owner. But in all fairness, he was picked 3rd in the re-draft despite his "premiuim" salary.
On a side note, I always think Zimmerman is a lot older than he really is. it's just that he's been around a long time.
Keep the 3rd baseman. I think Bruce will have a great year. But I think Zimmerman will also.
zimmerman gets my vote. Not only do I think he will have a better year then bruce, i dont believe you will find a better 3b put back into the pool. OF come and go in the majors someone new is always on the rise.
i generally will always keep an infield guy over a outfield guy if they are of equal value and I have to make a choice.

I doubted myself but then I see Nick Swisher made it until the 18th round in my league's draft. He just went.
And no, Swisher is nowhere near Jay Bruce. But we're talking value here.
Swisher last year's #s: .258 23 HR 85RBI .374 OBP 2 SB Bruce last year #s : .256 32 HR 97RBI .341 OBP 8 SB
I like Bruce as a keeper. But I like Zimmerman as a keeper also. Personally, I haven't had a good third baseman in years so I'm biased! ha ha (Bill Hall was my last 3B keeper, years ago, (ha ha) but I've brought Moustakas up and am hoping he can catch on)
I love Jay Bruce and his potential, but I need to go with Zimmerman here. The Nats are improving and it's hard to to imagine him giving at least 0.280/25/95/90 for the foreseeable future at a weak position.
I would definitely hold on to zimmerman. He didnt have a bad year last year, he was just hurt, and he and the nats lineup should only improve. I dont think bruce is capable of hitting for a high average, and i see zimmerman as a .300 25 homer guy+maybe more in the future. Thanks for your help with my post.
