I'm in a 20 team H2H, 25 keeper league. 6x6 with Holds and OPS in addition to standard categories.
I was offered the following trade:
My Jon Lester and 95th pick in the supplemental
for Daniel Hudson and Brad Peacock and 65th pick in the supplemental
Now obviously Jon Lester is very good. But really, by the numbers Hudson doesn't feel too far behind. His strikeout numbers last season were a little lacking, but it appears that the general consensus is that Hudson still has room for growth there. And then Peacock appears to have the inside track for a rotation spot to start the season for Oakland. I know there's still varying opinions whether Peacock ultimately ends up in the rotation or bullpen. But he has both potential and opportunity either way. He would probably replace Hammel or Guthrie in my keepers. So am I crazy for considering this?
My roster:
C - Joe Mauer 1B - Kendry Morales, Adam LaRoche 2b - Jose Altuve SS - Jhonny Peralta, Yunel Escobar 3B - Edwin Encarnacion OF - Josh Hamilton, Nelson Cruz, Carlos Beltran, Mike Morse, Nyjer Morgan, Christian Yelich
SP - Ricky Nolasco, Jon Lester, Jake Peavy, Jeremy Guthrie, Francisco Liriano, Ryan Dempster, Juan Nicasio, Carlos Zambrano, Jason Hammel RP - Mike Adams, Mike Thornton, Joaquin Benoit
Players I don't expect to keep unless something changes - Seth Smith, Vladimir Guerrero, Derek Lee, Oscar Taveras, Tyler Thornburg

Sorry my bad. Yes I would take that deal. I like Hudson and Peacock could be a quality SP plus a better pick. Sounds good to me. Lester is solid but not that much better than Hudson.

I think I'd pass. I like Lester a decent amount more than Hudson and Peacock is an unknown. Considering there are 500 keepers in your league, the pick upgrade seems irrelevant.
id actually do it i think. i like hudson enuf to risk it and kinda like peacock too. and basically you get a 3rd round pick for your 5th. Is that correct on the picks?

Agreed.
Lester is an established ace and is by no means old. In fact, I would argue that Lester hasn't lived up to his full potential yet (which I believe to be a Cy Young at some point). I like Hudson and his long term potential, but his huge increase in IP last year, along with his age, is a red flag for me. The draft pick upgrade doesn't seem significant either.
Yes, the picks are pretty much just throw ins. Outside of the first round and possibly the early second round, you're really just throwing darts at a board. They'd only tip the scales if you were absolutely dead even on the trade.
