Sorry, this is somewhat old news. He said when he was announced the manager he would keep Motte as his closer, but good that he is re-emphasizing it.

One of the biggest shams of 2011 is the idea that the Cardinals had a bad bullpen. They started the year with Franklin as the closer and it was a disaster but by about mid May until the end of the season they had one of the best bullpens in baseball and one of the most talented bullpens. They had a 3.38 ERA in the 2nd half and it was fully supported by peripherals. Motte is the closer and you can draft him with a lot of confidence.
