I'm very torn on my last offensive keeper spot. We keep 4 hitters and 4 pitchers each year with no cap on how long we can keep them, and no penalty in the draft for the round you took them in. Its just keep them straight up and draft from the rest.
Current keepers: CarGo, Longoria, Miggy Verlander, CC, Cliff Lee, Kershaw
4 OF spots regular 10 category scoring H2H each week
My other keeper is between Jay Bruce and Desmond Jennings. Both obviously young. On the surface its hard to ignore Bruce's 35+ HR, but I hate that .260-ish AVG and his long cold streaks. But if Jennings is really Crawford-like and can be a .280-.290 hitter in a year or two, then that's also hard to ignore!
I'm the 11th pick of 12 in the draft, and after keepers we're basically at Round 9 equal to a regular draft. I know I wouldn't see Bruce if I drop him. Maybe keep Bruce and take a chance Jennings falls to me in the first or second round?
I'm also having a tough time trying to decide whether to keep Jay Bruce or not. For the most part, I think I'd go with Jennings here. The reason is because you're in a H2H league. So consistent players are much more helpful there. I also have a soft spot for all-around hitters. So yeah...Jennings for me.
What about Option 3? I could try and deal one of the SP (who really needs 4 in the top 10 anyway?) for a solid bat that I'd keep over Bruce and Jennings.
Im actually a big fan of keeping guys with the highest ceiling and i think i like the possibility for 15-20 hrs along with 40sbs from jennings as much as i like the 35 hr potential that bruce has. its tough tho and im prolly in the minority but i see similar avgs but i see more production in runs and steals with less hrs and rbis. i like the power/ speed combos more than low avg high homer guys
Out of the two you have listed, I'd keep Bruce. Trading an arm for a bat is a great idea, but you'll have to aim pretty high. If you go that route I'd look to move Verlander, since I think he has the most potential for regression compared to huge ADP and perceived value.

I would always prefer to trade 2 guys for 1 to upgrade your last keeper spot. With that said, if you moved a combination of a SP and a bat, who would be your 4th SP keeper?
You could possibly trade Bruce/Jennings and Verlander combo in hopes to land one of those going in the first rounds (i.e. Upton, Kemp, Bruan, Cano, Tulo, etc). Not saying people would do it, but if they're keepers are really week and all they have is one stud, they might be inclined to pull the trigger...
