Keeper Advise - Taking over poor team!

Postby Knights » Thu Feb 23, 2012 10:39 am

I'm taking over a team in an 18-team 6x6 keeper - extra categories are OPS and L. The 3 OF roster spots are specified as LF/CF/RF.

We keep 6 players, and I currently hold all of my draft picks. The team I'm taking over has performed very poorly each of the past 2 years, finishing in the bottom 3 both seasons. I hold the 3rd pick in this year's draft.

My roster is below. My obvious keepers are Pedroia and Hanley. Who should I be taking as my other 4 keepers, and who else might have trade value that I could use to bolster my keepers before the draft?

Hitters
John Jaso C
Nick Swisher 1B/RF
James Loney 1B
Ike Davis 1B
Dustin Pedroia 2B
Neil Walker 2B
Hanley Ramírez SS (will presumably gain 3B)
Delmon Young LF
Johnny Damon LF
Grady Sizemore CF
Dexter Fowler CF
Carlos Beltrán RF
Andre Ethier RF

Pitching
Matt Garza SP
Jake Peavy SP
Freddy García SP
J.A. Happ SP
Jason Vargas SP
Daisuke Matsuzaka SP
Andrew Bailey RP
Heath Bell RP
Jason Motte RP
Tyler Clippard RP

Yep, this is it. It's a wasteland for keeper choices on that team, never mind trying to swap anyone for an upgrade. The only way you can upgrade is by trying to find an interested partner in a closer. If you could swing keeper/closer for a better keeper, you should do that. Closers are really the only currency you have at this point it seems.

Bell would be your only trade piece or keeper if you traded someone else. I'd try to move 2 of Bell/Beltran/Garza for 1 better tho it might be hard to find a taker
