Top high risk high reward players. Lawrie, Cabrera, Hanley?

Postby KaPluie » Fri Feb 17, 2012 7:24 pm

I found a nice article on the top high-risk high-reward players for fantasy this year.

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1057 ... rd-players

There are a few people on the list I was thinking about, so I wonder what everyone thinks.

Cabrera - I think I'll have the top pick in one of my leagues, so Cabrera's a guy I'm thinking about. But this issue of him having to deal with a position change makes me worried. I'm starting to think Kemp might be the safer bet

Lawrie - He really helped my team at the end of the year last year, and am tempted to pick him up as my 3B. His age has be worried of course

Hanley - I love the Marlins offense. If I can get him in the second round, I think I might pull the trigger. He could have a great comeback season.

Lawrie would be a good risk option at a better value than spending an early pick on Miggy Cab Longo or getting burnt by Hanley, Wright or Zimm.

Try to get ya know Tulo at SS early on.

I think its very odd to start a "high-risk, high-reward" article with Miguel Cabrera. He's probably the lowest risk superstar player in all of fantasy right now...

Right now that's true... but that has been at first base. third base is a different animal. I've read Cabrera will drop 35 to 40 pounds before the season starts. Who knows how that will affect his timing and power. He will also be playing a higher risk position in terms of getting injured. But as far the third basemen go in fantasy, it is hard to beat Cabrera. I think I might be more inclined to go with Votto though over Cabrera. Votto isn't a sexy option this year, but the guy is a reliable top-tier player, and doesn't have to deal with any changes going into next year.
