I look how he finished in AZ last year and it leads me to believe, at 30, he still has some productive years left. I know he's inconsistent, but would I be going out on a limb to think he's capable of a 20/20 season with an avg of .270?
and if I'm buying into that rational, it a H2H, 5X5, 16 team keeper auction ($150) league, would you trade Kipnis $4 for Trumbo $4 and Hill $4 ??
my guts says I do it gambling on Hill and hoping Trumbo gets 3B elig. out of ST.
He may be capable of it, but it's not very likely to happen. I like Kipnis to outperform him in pretty much every category. If you think Trumbo is still gonna play every day and gain 3B eligibility then it becomes closer. But then you'd be mostly doing the trade for Trumbo who is much more likely to be worth $4 than Hill is imo. I personally would hold onto Kipnis.
I think I have to go with what Giants Fan said. Of the three, I like the upside of Kipnis the most, and I would lean toward holding him rather than making the deal.

Yeah, I think that is going out of a limb. Hill hits 2/3 of those numbers if you are lucky. I'm seeing him more likely to top out at .250/15/15... The numbers could fluctuate a bit, but I'm not confident his HR+SB total will exceed 30. Or his AVG will go much higher than .250 unless he has some luck..
For the trade, a lot depends upon who else in on your team and whether or not you think you can compete/win this year. If you have the right pieces in play already, Hill and Trumbo at those prices (assuming Trumbo gains 3B eligibility) wouldn't be terrible. Kipnis has the most long term upside though.
I don't like that deal. I think Hill can still have value and be a quality pickup but I like Kipnis more and I would rather not own Trumbo. Too much going on in LA for me to buy any of the 1B not named Pujols. Kipnis should give you number equal to or better than Hill and at the same price.
