I am in an 8 team keeper AL only league. We base our our reentry portion off of points of which I have the lead and first crack at getting Pujols/Fielder. (We keep 17 players and 4 reserves.)
His proposal initially was to have me use almost all of points to guarantee getting Pujols, then trading him Pujols and CJ Wilson for M.Cabrera and J.Verlander. I immediately responded that I would do this. His follow up email asked if I would be willing to add Beltre, since Cabrera will qualify at 3B soon or he could subsitute Granderson for Cabrera in the deal. Which would make the deal Granderson and Verlander for Pujols and Wilson. I am not a big fan of Granderson, since he has been inconsistent in his career. I want Cabrera without giving up Beltre. I am looking for some counter advice.
We start 9 players with the last being a DH, so I can play Agon, Pujols/Fielder, and Beltre in my lineup. We start 5 pitchers each week and use 3 RP.
Do I hold my ground and offer Pujols and Wilson for Cabrera and Verlander? (Steal for me) Do I include Beltre if he includes Jennings? Pujols, Wilson, and Beltre for Cabrera, Verlander and Jennings.
I could bag the deal, not risk all of my points on Pujols and just be happy having Fielder, which would allow me to fill in the OF considering Crawford will miss some time. I love the thought of Verlander, but he is coming off of a lot of innings pitched last year, so I expect a regression. Any advice or any alternatives would be greatly appreciated!!!
Thanks in advance - This site has really helped me with a lot of my trade dilemmas.

Either trade is a win for you I think.
Pujols = Mcab (thought I would rather have MCab) Wilson < Verlander (not even close) Beltre = Jennings (because it's a keeper league)
Here's the pitch on the way, a swing and a belt! Left field! Way back! BLUE JAYS WIN!
If possible, I love the Pujols/Wilson for Verlander/Cabrera deal. I'd take the latter pair easily.
It seems as though the other owner is realizing that the deal is a little too good for you and that's why he's looking for alternatives. Granderson in place of Cabrera is actually not AWFUL, but obviously not as good as the original.
I would see about making it a 6 player deal where the perceived value is on his side. It's legitimate that he'd want a 3B back, so I'd throw Beltre in from your side. I don't think asking for Jennings back is THAT crazy, but be prepared to see him not accept it.
Or...as you said at the end--you could just stay right where you are. Wilson could perform better than I think...Verlander might have a regression...Miggy might hurt himself trying to play third. You never know. But I still think I'd try to get those 2 from him somehow.

The first deal is the only one I like. I would rather have Beltre over Jennnings. The above deal isn't bad but I want the best player in the deal coming my way instead of giving him up. So I would keep Pujols here. I would back off the trade and see if he comes back around. He offered you one deal and it is kind of a douche move to back out.

I am feeling like I agree with this line of thinking. 3B is so thin and Cabrera at 3B scares me.(He needs 12 games there before he qualifies and I fear Detroit will realize that he is not a 3B anymore) I really like Verlander, but Wilson isn't so shabby. I think he is realizing that he made too good of an offer and is trying to backpedal. I think I will stand my ground on the original trade or no deal.
