My h2h keeper team is built to win NOW. My 8 keepers will be MCab Rd 1, Bautista Rd 5, JUpton Rd 6, Ellsbury Rd 9, Granderson Rd 12, Lawrie Rd 22, Hosmer Rd 24, and finally one of either Strasburg Rd 20/ Pineda Rd 23 / Beachy Rd 23
Obviously Strasburg is a huge bargain in the 20th rd, and he can be kept cheap for several more years. But its almost a lock that hes shut down before h2h playoffs begin, just like J Zim last year. So im looking to deal him.
Best offer so far: his 1st round pick (9th overall), 7th round pick (69th overall) for my Strasburg, 19th rd pick, and 20th rd pick
instead of Strasburg I'd be keeping Pineda or Beachy, so effectively another gain in the trade to factor in for me as well.
Players available in draft for sure: Lincecum, Lester, Hanson, Gallardo, Ubaldo, Reyes, Hanley, Ryan Zimm, C Santana, Holliday, Youk, Braun Mauer, Crawford, Hamilton.
Due to keeper considerations only 1-2 teams will have a 1st round pick to use, only 2-3 will have a 2nd rd pick, and maybe 5 will have a 3rd round pick. if I make the trade ill have a 1st round pick open, along with the 1st pick in Round 2, a late 3rd round pick, and first pick in round 4. so id be able to get 4 of the guys off the list above.
Do you pull the trigger? or try to get more - like a 1st and a 5th?
anytime you can get a first round draft pick with that kind of talent available, you don't quibble for a 2nd pick a couple rounds earlier. seal the deal and be happy with what you've got
I'm kind of on the Pineda bandwagon myself, I had him last year after his first start and he was very, very good. They shut him down, had a suspect defense and zero offense. Throw him in NY and I feel like he has CC numbers this year.
Pineda had the fifth-highest slider usage pct in 2011, and struggled later in the season. He is also moving from a pitcher's park to a park and division that should be tough on a RHP. Scary.
Count me as a vote for dealing Strasburg and keeping Beachy.
So it seems like making this trade should be a no brainer, with the only point of contention being keeping Pineda v Beachy. Both carry a little risk as Beachy has only been pitching for a few years on any level, and Pineda has a slightly troubling injury history and extreme slider usage. I think the difference maker may be that Pineda will throw more innings (barring injuries) as Beachy only reached ~145 last year and will probably be on some kind of limit. Pineda should be able to throw 200 this season
