Draft Help

Postby wolverine47 » Wed Feb 15, 2012 11:46 am

I have the following picks in the first round of our up coming draft. 1st, 2nd and 4th. I cannot decide whether to go pure offense with Cabrera, Kemp and Pujos or go with Verlander instead of Pujos. The scorring for the league is listed below: I do not pick again until the 6th round 47th pick overall. There are 8 teams in my league. Thoughts? Additional information: We are limited to 5 starts per week. You can start the same pitcher twice a week. Also it is 1 point per inning not 0.99. Anybody else with thoughts?

Batting Singles (1B) 1 Doubles (2B) 2
Triples (3B) 3 Home Runs (HR) 4
Walks (BB) 1 Runs Scored (R) 1
Runs Batted In (RBI) 1 Stolen Bases (SB) 2
Hitting for the Cycle (CYC) 10 Grand Slam Home Runs (GSHR) 5

Pitching Innings Pitched (IP) 0.99 Wins (W) 5
Strikeouts (K) 1 Shutouts (SO) 3
Complete Games (CG) 5 Perfect Games (PG) 15

No contest, hitters are much more highly valuable than pitchers. Cabrera, Kemp, Pujols.

ALso why is IP .99? That would piss me off to no end lol

I think I would go hitters although I am not sure I would go with the Pujols. I think I would take Tulo with the third pick and help shore up some tougher positions. If i was to go pitching, I think I would rather have Kershaw only because I think Verlander is more likely to take a step back. In the end though, i would still take 3 hitters in Cabrera/Pujols, Kemp and Tulo.

I would take all hitters and I WOULD take Pujols as one of them. If you decide not to take one of the top 3 bats I would take Tulo too but over Kemp who will never reproduce last year's numbers and Pujols is probably the most consistent hitter in the game, maybe only second to MCab.

3 hitters instead of a stud pitcher? The only issue with the advise I have recieved is did anyone take in to consideration that I only get 5 starts per week in pitching? That is five starts total not I can start five different pitchers. Does that change anyone's mind?

Gotta go with the three bats, pitchers are just too volatile to almost ever take one over a top three stud.
