10-team, H2H, 5x5, Yahoo! competitive keeper league. Players can be kept for 5 years. This marks the year that many of the initial keepers are going back into the draft (Pujols, Hanley, Fielder, Reyes, CC, Braun, Miggy, Wright, Teixeira, etc). Each team must keep a min of 3, a max of 5. If you keep less than 5, you get extra picks at the start of the draft until everyone has a roster of 5. Then the regular snake draft starts.
My keepers: CarGo (will be 3rd year); King Felix (will be 4th year); Stanton (will be 2nd year). We've mapped out the first round and here are the best players available at my pick: Hanley, Kinsler, Wright & Teixeira.
Knowing they can be kept for the next 5 years, which of the above players would you take, and why?
Kinsler. He's younger, plays a premium position, and has a more recent history of success. Tex is a little old to sign up for 5 years, and with Hanley and Wright you're counting on a bounceback.
Even though I don't think Hanley earned a third of what I kept him for last year I think he's the pick here.I think all the love Reyes is going to get will goad Hanley into a huge bounceback. If you don't want to take the risk, the only poor choice is Tex. Kinsler and Wright should be fine keepers too. All three are close, go with the one you have the most confidence in.

I agree. But I'm more on the Hanley side. Hanley will qualify at both SS/3B this year, so he adds some flexibility to your roster. And if Reyes gets hurt at some point (which is likely), I'd imagine Hanley would then get enough starts at SS to maintain Yahoo SS eligibility (5 starts).

This is an interesting thought. Maybe Reyes can knock some sense into Hanley or help him get back to his old self.
I think it is Hanley and Wright. I am not sold on Kinsler as last year was the first time he has ever played a full season and only the second time he has hit more than 20 HR.

I like Hanley as well. Kinslar the second choice. Hanley just might qualify at short this year even if he starts the season at third. Reyes could miss enough time with leg injuries and its very possible Hanley replaces him. The top of that Marlins order is going to be fun to watch. Bonafascio, Reyes, Hanley and Stanton. I can't see anybody pitching around Ramirez to get to Stanton. Ramirez should get plenty of RBI chances.
