14 team league, roto, 6x6 with Holds and OPS, 3 keepers per year. I need a second closer badly as I only have Farnsworth and all the closers are now gone. A guy in my league offered me Andrew Bailey for Chase Utley. If I did this I could pick up Beckham, Infante, Hudson,Roberts, Casilla, in the draft to take Utley's place. Is this a good deal for me?
I wouldn't do Utley for Bailey. Agree with others that saves are too volatile and you can always grab saves based on in-season changes. Bailey never stays healthy for a full season anyway.
I don't think I'd do Utley for Gio either. I like Gio and think he will do even better in the NL, but 2B is so thin. I think Utley is under valued right now, so the timing to trade him isn't good.
It sounds like the other manager really wants Utley, so if you are comfortable with drafting a lesser 2B, you should counter with something more in your favor and see what happens.
If you are diligent you'll be able to find saves all year given the insane rate of turnover with closers, and why take one that gets injured so often? Gio could be OK (I personally see him a bit overrated) but Utley is simply worth more than either of those pitchers.
