Hello all, I'm new here. I wanted to see if I could get some opinions on my keepers.
First, some background on the league...
I'm in a 16 team, 6x6 H2H league. The extra categories are OPS for offensive stats and HLD for pitching stats. It is the 3rd year of a dynasty league. We are keeping 7 players this year, and are slowly building up to keeping 25 players out of a 30 man roster. Also, we have 4 OF positions and an extra IF position.
So I need to keep 7 of the following players. Some of these are of course no-brainers, but I'm just going to list them all.
Utley Pence Alexei Ramirez Michael Young Victor Martinez Michael Cuddyer Dan Haren Ricky Romero James Shields Ian Kennedy Brandon Beachy
This is what I'm leaning towards..
Pence Utley Young V.Mart (he's not going to lose his C eligibility is he?) Haren Kennedy Shields, Romero or Alexei
Anything you would do different?
The problem with not keeping Ramirez is that most good SS are already keepers on other people's teams, so if I don't keep him, I'm going to be weak at SS (unless there's a good sleeper SS out there), and then next year we're keeping 10 players so I sort of need to get my franchise SS locked down. But in a vaccuum there are other players I'd prefer over Alexei.
Also, I won my league last year, so I get last pick in the first round, and there's a chance that whoever I don't keep will not fall to me in the first round.

This is actually what I'm starting to lean towards. I won my league last year because of my starting pitching. I'm going back and forth between Beachy and Romero, but Beachy's awesome K/9 last year is what's making me lean towards him.
Hmm. Yeah, I'd be going back and forth there a little too. I do like Romero quite a bit, but I think Beachy edges him by a nose, if just based on Romero's home in the AL East. BEachy still has upside too, whereas I think Romero, while excellent, is more a finished product.
Ridiculous to keep 25 players out of 30. There would be no turnover in the league ever and teams would stay fairly stagnant with high chance at a few teams dominating. The idea of keepers is that all teams should have a chance at winning depending on draft and management skill during the year. If you keep so many players this aspect is all but eliminated.
Utley Pence M Young A Ramirez Haren Shields Beachy Or kennedy over Shields. Depending on which you think has higher chance to repeat good numbers
Martinez is out for the year. I know he put up numbers last year and all, but best to let some team waste a grab for him during the draft. If no one grabs him early, you can grab him back if you want.
