Although, I would say that Closers are necessarily valued as high as starting pitchers. I think their value is reflective of real life, the best teams are going to have really good closers and they will make the difference in a playoff team, but you can still win without them if you have a solid rotation that can pitch CG.

For the h2h points league I run, there is a 53%/47% split between hitters and pitchers, and an approximate 85%/15% split between starters and closers. It's also true that the scoring is much more traditional, i.e., 1 pt for a single, 2 for a double, etc. Wins, QS, CG, and S are valued arbitrarily to get the values close to where I want them to be.

I would be curious to see how MLB value SP versus RP in general, maybe by WAR or something...
