If you can't get that Miggy trade, keep Pujols, Hanley, McCutchen, and either Lincecum or Felix, depending on who you like more.

21 - A. Wainwright

A. Pujols
H. Ramirez
F. Hernandez - Gets the nod over Lince because he is one of the rare SP workhorses
A. McCutchen

Plus, this is a 10 team league. Lot more options out there then with deeper leagues. There is a better chance in my opinion of a pitcher taking a big step forward (like a Daniel Hudson) then of a hitter doing that.

I'm just surprised that people think the optimal lineup would be McCutchen over one of the pitchers....

I have a hard time agreeing with this. I feel like it's much easier to find a serviceable OF than an ACE SP.

McCutchen isn't just a "serviceable OF". He's a top-10 OF, who produces across all five categories and probably shouldn't be drafted much later than 25th overall. With how deep pitching is this year, there's no way I'd keep either pitcher over him.

Understood, but the thing is that this is a H2H points league. Being a well rounded player doesn't help. I just need points, and consistent points. While a FA OF pickup won't equal McCutchen, I feel that the gap between the two would be less than the gap between a FA SP and Felix/Timmay

At this point I'm pretty sure I can pull off:

Felix/Hanley for Midgy

Leaving me with

A. Pujols
M. Cabrera
A. McCutchen
T. Lincecum
A. Wainwright

I also think there's a chance I could do something like Felix for Votto straight up. In that case I'd likely dump McCutchen. I also may be able to trade Hanley for a top tier pitching prospect like Cole or Bauer
