What article or articles did you learn the most about playing FB in general? I'm talking about any aspect of the game including drafting, trading, when to pick up or drop etc... Looking for thought provoking material. Thanks guys.

Dunno if I'd say this is the best but it is one I read recently that I liked. I've always been fascinated with BABIP since it was my first introduction into looking at underlying stats instead of just guessing at whether or not a players breakout was real or not.

So does this just confirm what we should have already known...good pitchers with good stuff actually do have a decent amount of control of their batted ball outcomes?

It also confirms that flyball pitchers should have significantly lower BABIP than groundball guys so it goes part of the way towards explaining Matt Cain. It is obvious they should have a lower BABIP because of the BABIP of FB vs GB but they also tend to give up a lower percentage of LD than a GB pitchers does. FB pitcher in a big pitchers park is like the perfect fantasy target, low WHIP because they don't give up as many hits, good ERA because they don't give up a ton of HR from the FB. They also tend to have higher K.
