best mix of Sp and Rp

Postby rayt132 » Wed Mar 31, 2004 2:59 pm

my league starts 2 sp, 2 rp, and 3 p

right now i have 5 sp and 3 rp.
i think i have a good number of sp's but wonder if i should get another rp to go in a p spot and rotate the sp's based on their starts

or would i be fine with 4 sp's

everyone in the league seem to have either 2 sp's and the rest rp or vise versa

Pitchers-
SP T. Hudson (Oak - SP)
RP T. Percival (Ana - RP)
RP J. Isringhausen (StL - RP)

P M. Morris (StL - SP)
BN B. Webb (Ari - SP)
BN J. Julio (Bal - RP)

Right now it looks like you have four SP's and two Jorge Julio's! :-o Who's the fifth? I usually like to have a minimum of six SP's and three RP's to feel a little more secure.

You have a nice pitching staff. Putting Prior on the DL will free up a spot. If there's a closer in FA that might not be a bad pickup. Otherwise it wouldn't hurt to pick up a temporary fifth SP, but I wouldn't start him if you don't have to--unless he's a really good pickup.

One thing I don't understand is how someone can ask a question about their pitching staff, and the first SP you list is on the DL for a month? I suppose you listed him like that cuz he's numero uno but it would be more accurate to put him on your bench/DL if you want advice. Anyway.

Hudson
Oswalt

Percy
Izzy
Julio

Morris
Webb
bench-Mulder/Prior

Seems like the way to go. You could then sub in Mulder for Hudson as needed, or something like that. Seems like with 7 pitching spots 4 SP's and 3 RP's is he way to go. Some weeks you might want it 5-2 depending on what your opponent is going with.

My 2 cents.

I know this isnt for the SP/RP question but webb and mulder on the bench, make trades to improve your hitting if you can? Does your hitting need improving or is it as stacked as ure pitching?

Why don't you start a new post? I can't make any sense of this one any more? lol

First you had two Julios.
Then Prior listed as an active SP.
And now you don't have Prior?
Jeesh....
