), I think that is a bit too strong of a statement. Because Gonzalez has the opportunity for a great R-L split down the batting order, I believe he'll bat either McCann or Freeman cleanup with the other hitting 6th. Obviously it'll be Freeman until McCann come back a few weeks into the season and it will all depend on health and production, but I truly think he'll be the one hitting 4th for most of the season.
But I do see your point. They're obviously a much better team with McCann in the lineup over Laird, but with the surgery and their playoff aspirations, they may want to limit his season of PAs by batting him lower in the lineup.
