I hope all of you are doing well. I wanted to ask for your opinion on a trade that has been proposed to me.
I am in a 14 team dynasty league with standard 5x5 roto categories.
Given below is my team.
C - Carlos Santana 1B - Adrian Gonzalez, Joey Votto, Billy Butler 2B - Rickie Weeks 3B - Ryan Zimmerman SS - Alcides Escobar, Elvis Andrus OF - Desmond Jennings, Delmon Young, Alex Gordon, Justin Upton, Michael Brantley
SP - David Price, Cole Hamels, Homer Bailey, Chad Billingsley, Jordan Zimmermann, Johan Santana, Tommy Hanson RP - Drew Storen, Joel Hanrahan, Carlos Marmol, Francisco Rodriguez
I am being offered Andrew Bailey for Francisco Rodriguez, Joel Hanrahan, and my third round minor league draft pick (insignificant)
I do lose out if and when K-Rod becomes a closer again but I get an elite closer now. What do you you guys think - Should I go ahead with the trade?
I wouldn't. I would rather have Hanranhan who has a tight hold on the closer job in Pittsburgh and will be good for 30-35 saves. And KRod could be very helpful in pitching cats and you never know if he will end up being a closer. Stay with what you have.
Well, even if K-Rod doesn't return to the 9th inning mound, Bailey and Hanrahan are practically a wash if you look at last year. Better teams do not necessarily mean more save chances, so you would essentially be handing over a minor leaguer and K-Rod for free. I suppose it's up to you as to how much faith you have in Hanrahan versus Bailey.
