you've got ERA... so you can figured out earned runs for pitchers
I'd do Batter Runs + (League Average for Total ER by pitchers - Team Total ER by pitchers)

Looks complicated but really isn't. you figure out the league's average ER given up and then figure the difference between that and the team's total... then add it to the team's run total.
Example
Team A's Batter runs 600
So if the league average is 500 total ER given up (just a round number) and a team A total ER given up is 400...

That's 600+(500-400) =700

Team B's batter runs is 700
League AVG number is still 500 and Team B's total ERA given up is 600...
that's 700 + (500-600) = 600

Hope that makes sense... combines both hitters and pitchers. Could get even crazier and use league average for runs too.

Did anyone else just go to a really scary visual place?

Back on topic: Basically, flip a coin. Make it one of the categories. In H2H leagues I like what Yahoo used to do- using ERA - because it makes choosing to start a pitcher or not an even bigger deal.

What I DON'T like is what Yahoo does now, which is use the regular season aggregate matchup. If you end a playoff game tied, the person who won more categories overall in that head to head matchup in the regular season wins. In my opinion the only thing that should count is that particular week. Use a tiebreaker but make sure it comes from that week's stats.

Totally agree on the current yahoo issue. Why should a random matchup from week 4 or week 10, or whatever when one team couldve had less starts or injuries or been completely made over since because of trades be the deciding factor in a playoff matchup. But, I also see the point in them doing away with a single category option because one team could be heavy pitching and one could be heavy hitting and both did well to make the playoffs. You obviously cannot make over you team in 1-2 weeks to adjust to a single category.

I tend to think the fairest option is simply highest seed advances. if you put in all the work weeks 1-22 to give yourself a better seed/position, someone should have to actually beat you to advance.
