Does my provisonal list of keepers match yours?

Postby [REDACTED] » Sun Jan 29, 2012 12:48 pm

12 Team, H2H, 10 keeper, 6x6 (OBP & Holds) league. Finished 2nd in both reg. season and playoffs.

C- JP Arencibia
1B - Prince Fielder
2B - Jemile Weeks
SS - Hanley Ramirez
3B - David Wright
OF - Ryan Braun
OF - Andrew McCutchen
OF - Chris Young
U- Paul Konerko

Carlos Beltran
Erick Aybar
Juan Pierre

(Due to roster slot limitations I punted on saves, and focused solely on holds from my RP's)

SP - Matt Moore
SP - Yovani Gallardo
RP - David Robertson
RP - Tyler Clippard
P - Michael Pineda
P - Chris Carpenter
P - Matt Garza

Josh Johnson
Randall Delgado
Tommy Hanson
Hiroki Kuroda
Sean Marshall
Bud Norris
Grant Balfour
Henderson Alvarez
-----------------------------------------------------------
My tentative list of keepers:

1. Ryan Braun
2. Prince Fielder
3. Hanley Ramirez
4. Matt Moore
5. Yovani Gallardo
6. Matt Garza
7. Michael Pineda
8. David Wright
9. Paul Konerko
10. Andrew McCutchen

I'm not in love with keeping Pineda since he moved to the ALEast, but I'm also not sold on Josh Johnson's durability either. I'm thinking I should choose between Moore and Pineda and replace the loser with an older but more reliably consistent SP.

Thoughts?

I would keep

1B - Prince Fielder
SS - Hanley Ramirez
3B - David Wright
OF - Ryan Braun
OF - Andrew McCutchen
OF - Chris Young
U- Paul Konerko
SP - Matt Moore
SP - Yovani Gallardo
SP - Josh Johnson

It was a tough choice between Young and Hanson....

This is actually what I like but you are taking a risk with two or three SP. I realize that Konerko has had a lot of success the past couple years but there is a point where he won't be able to keep this up and I seem to fall on the side that I would rather cut a guy a year early than a year late. Hanson and JJ, when healthy are top 15 SP if not top 10. It is a gamble but the upside is huge and could possibly win you the league where the safer route just doesn't have that kind of upside. Plus you have enough talent on this team, that you can take a bit of a gamble.

Maud I think you may have changed my mind, especially since most teams in the league go very pitching heavy when it comes to building their roster. Thanks.

I like the thinking MaudDib has here, but I think there's a bit too much gamble to it. Some is good, too much is, well...too much. Johnson's health is something I wouldn't bet a nickel on.

SP - Matt Moore

I would definitely keep these 9 listed above. Both Moore and Pineda have good potential and since you said SP is hard to come by, I'd much rather speculate on either one of them than gamble on the health of Josh Johnson or Tommy Hanson. Chris Young is someone who I would keep, especially with Braun missing some time. Young could have a very nice season coming in 2012.

The last spot is a little tougher. I like Paul Konerko, but since you have Fielder at 1B, you can afford to toss Konerko back. If replacing him, then I'd go for either Josh Johnson (more likely) or Tommy Hanson. Konerko is the safe play though.
