I'm okay waiting on first -- if the value isn't there in the late 2nd/early 3rd, you can always go elsewhere and still find something workable at 1b.
Well yes, getting a later round Goldschmidt is better than a late round Valencia. But the point I was trying to make was that in the late 2nd or early 3rd round, the value pick is probably going to be at 3B in a 12 or 14 team league.
Fair enough, I just think there are other potential value picks there. IF MCab qualifies swiftly at 3b, and I can put off nabbing a 1b to a bit later, I'm not sure those 3b would trump some of the players now going late 2nd/early 3rd. Thinking about a 12-teamer, and going by the (early) MDP posted here, these are the turn picks:
20 Jose Reyes SS 21.63 21 Cliff Lee SP 22.90 22 Ian Kinsler 2B 24.50 23 Mark Teixeira 1B 25.96 24 Andrew McCutchen OF 27.66 25 Josh Hamilton OF 27.90 26 Adrian Beltre 3B 28.11 27 Mike Stanton OF 28.36 28 Tim Lincecum SP 28.66
Not a bad group. I'm just saying, some positions have to be put off till late -- if it's not 1b or 3b, it'll be sp, of, or something. I like my odds better with a late-round 1b than with most other late-rounders.

Oh I agree completely. Towards the end there are a lot of good 1B options compared to other positions.
As for the MDP (which is still early), if I can get Miggy in the 1st, Tex in the 2nd, and Reyes in the 3rd, I'm pretty darn happy. I'd also be happy with Kinsler, Beltre, Wright, or Stanton. Many, many options. But the SP seem to be going a lot higher than what I'd originally thought.
I'd bow for you if you walked into the room Scotty.
We truly are not worthy!!
Ask Ryan Madson?
4 years 44 mil to 1 year 8.5 mil
Bingo.....
I can't stand agents let alone some Boras, he was a V-Mart injury away from not getting Prince this deal.....(and having an epic fail this offseason) no way the tigers make this move with V-Mart healthy. Prince was Nationals bound were several of Boras clients (Werth Harper Strasburg) already lie....but I bet he wasn't getting this 9year deal from them.

What do you mean finally? The Yankees tried this for like ten years apiece on two separate occasions.
Yeah really, and also the Angels throwing copious amounts of money at Pujols and CJ Wilson. I also though the Marlins signing Reyes and moving Hanley to 3B was something straight out of a video game also.
