Shields or Zimmerman?

Postby chargerss24 » Mon Jan 23, 2012 9:32 pm

12 team keeper league (standard stat + holds/OBP). I can keep one of Shields or Zimmerman
To staff my rotation of Hamels, Greinke, Price and Pomeranz. I can only keep one. Who's the
Better keeper for the 2012 season? WHIR as always!

Assuming that you can't dump Pomeranz I would take Shields, but it's closer than some might believe.

Both Shields and Zimmerman are 1.00 to keep, and
because I'm close to my cap limit, I can just keep one. I'm
keeping Pomeranz at a dime and FWIW, I have Shelby Miller
and Matt Moore as minor leaguers.

Yep. I think that the gap closes this season for sure. I'm a big Zimmermann guy. Shields is still the play here though.

With only one 'n', I came in here thinking you should definitely hang onto the third baseman. As it is, go with Shields. You may feel guilty if Zimmermann lights it up this year, but at least you know what you're getting in Shields. That is, if he doesn't regress to some bad habits.

For this year alone, probably Shields. If you can keep them more long term at those prices, I hold onto Zimm.

If Zimm improves his K rate and Shields shows the expected regression... :-°

I'm thinking that Shields might have better trade value than Zimmy... :-?
