I am in trade talks in this 5x5, keeper league, 14 teams, deep rosters league.
A guy is asking me who I would add in this deal: His Pablo, Napoli, J. Weeks for my Jennings and ________?
Take a look at my roster and see who you think I should try to throw back his way. He put in his trade block that he needs speed and saves but I don't really want to give up Kimbrel or Motte...well maybe Motte. He basically needs OF and RP for the most part as he doesn't have a closer yet and his OF is weak.
Also, I don't know if this is the same league you've posted other stuff about, but depending on the keeper settings, I don't know that I'd be sending away Jennings for this package. I love Fat Panda's prospect over the next few seasons, but Napoli doesn't really do it for me and I feel has a greater chance at finishing among the vast majority of the Catchers who don't suck than head and shoulders above them -- with the rigor of the position and what have you, nobody seems to be able to do it consistently (McCann would be the closest, for my money).
Anyway, moral of the story is, if I'm looking to trade Jennings who has an incredible amount of upside and potential, and has already shown some of it at the Major League level, it'd take more than a nice 3B (albeit the position is super thin), a Catcher who may or may not repeat last year's performance, and a SS who offers me speed in one of the worst lineups in baseball. If I'm trading Jennings, I'm getting a clear stud in return.
Thanks BigHOrt.....I asked him about Miggy instead of Napoli if I am going to give up Jennings and he countered with this:
His Miggy, Weeks, Panda for My Jennings and Upton....I am torn, I love Miggy who may be the best Fantasy bat in baseball but I have a man crush on Upton. What's your opinion on this?
Each player loses 3 draft positions each year you keep them and you can't keep anyone from the year before in the top 3 picks. So, J Upton was my first round pick and Miggy was his. Weeks, Jennings both could be kept forever due to their draft positions like in the 30's as there were 40 rounds. And I could keep Panda next year.
Nevermind, this guy is pissing me off and retracting. Now he just wants to do Jennings and Britton/Matusz for Napoli and Weeks. Would you do this? If not, how about if I put in Panda instead of Napoli?
I'd probably be content to just keep Jennings for the next several years until I was looking to make a power move and get a top talent on an expiring 'contract' or something like that.
