Keeper advice WHIR

Postby Mateo de Lorenzo » Sat Jan 21, 2012 8:00 pm

Standard 5x5 roto league. 12 teams. Allowed to keep up to seven keepers but can keep less. Contract years may not be over 15 years total.

Currently under contract:

Freddie Freeman, 3 years
Jose Tabata, 1 year
Jaime Garcia, 1 year
Chris Perez, 1 year

So, I have three spots left with nine years of contracts remaining. Number in parenthesis is the pick I would lose in the upcoming draft on a one year contract. For each subsequent year I would lose a draft pick three rounds earlier.

JP Arenciba (24)
Angel Sanchez (20)
Matt Dominguez (20)
Yuniesky Betancourt (22)
Zack Cozart (20)
Jesus Guzman (20)
Yonder Alonso (20)
Mike Carp (20)
Jose Constanza (20)
Travis Snider (11)
Ike Davis (10)
Josh Beckett (5)
Gio Gonzalez (6)
Jeremey Hellickson (24)
Jeff Niemann (24)
Drew Pomeranz (20)
Javvy Guerra (20)
Fernando Salas (20)
Mike Montgomery (20)
Jacob Turner (20)
Adam Wainwright (14)

JP Arenciba (24) - could lose his job or get traded. Pass.
Angel Sanchez (20)
Matt Dominguez (20) - Defense-first 3B, pass.
Yuniesky Betancourt (22)
Zack Cozart (20)
Jesus Guzman (20)
Yonder Alonso (20)
Mike Carp (20)
Jose Constanza (20)
Travis Snider (11)
Ike Davis (10) - tempting but with a 10th round pick you're not getting much value, and with a 3 round penalty per year he'd have to really break out to be worth it.
Josh Beckett (5)
Gio Gonzalez (6)
Jeremey Hellickson (24) - ;-D
Jeff Niemann (24)
Drew Pomeranz (20)
Javvy Guerra (20)
Fernando Salas (20)
Mike Montgomery (20)
Jacob Turner (20) ;-D
Adam Wainwright (14) ;-D Not sure how long you want to lock him up but at that price you should at least keep him for the year.

Hellickson and Wainwright first for me. If you keep on 6, do you get an earlier pick or just not lose a random round? If you don't get an early pre-draft pick, I would go Arrencibia.
