Early Look at my Keepers WHIR

I have started trying to put my list together for February. I'm pretty solid on most but not sure about a couple. We play Fantasy point 12 teams with a $40 budget for keepers.

MLB $3.00 = 1,000 ABs 50 SP starts or 100 pitcher appearances
AAA $2.00 = less than 1,000 ABs 50 SP starts or 100 pitcher appearances
A $1.00 = less than 130 ABs 50 innings pitched

These are the guys i'm debating between.

1B/OF- John Mayberry $2
1B- Kendrys Morales $3
OF- Jose Tabata $3
C- Yasmani Grandal $1
1B- Jontahan Singleton $1

RP- Sergio Santos $3
SP- Tim Hudson $3
SP- Trevor Cahill $3
SP- Danny Duffy $2


At this point I really feel like a need a couple trades before the keeper deadline and draft. All of my major league batting talent will now be smashed into 2 positions 1B and 3B. Hanley moving to 3B really hurts my team. I will still be able to play him at SS this year. But next year I would have Cabrera, Howard, Rizzo, Hanley, Rodriguez, Chisenhall and Sano for 3 starting positions .

I have been looking around and some are high on Salvador Perez and some are not. Same with Jhoulys Chacin I seem to be a lot higher on him than most of the rankings coming out. Should I open up $5 by dropping these two into the draft? Also what C/OF/2B would you go after with any of my 1B/3B cluster.

I am not sure I quite understand what is going on here. How many keepers and is there a minor league system? If so are some of those guys on the minor league system? Sorry for the confusion but you have a mix of MLB and MiLB talent and all with salaries. Some of the minor league players aren't worth spending money on quite yet.

I also wouldn't worry too much about Hanley just yet. I think that is something you could make a trade for late in the season if it looks like it might be an issue. But Reyes is far from a healthy player and if he goes down, Hanley should take over for him at SS. Add in some off days for Reyes and Hanley just might get enough starts there to be a multi-position guy. It might not happen that way but I would let it all play out over 3-4 months before I starting stressing about it.

what was the question and what are the choices? how can Santos be on the debateable list

I can have as many keepers as I want under the $40 limit. Yes we have a minor league system during the year that we can roster 15 players in the minors. A hitter must have no more than 500 appearances and no more than 1,000 ABs. Pitchers 100 MLB appearances and no more than 50 MLB starts. At this point it's a mix because you are just naming keepers and they will either be valued at $3, $2 or $1 as I stated in the first post.

Both those pitchers are top end pitching prospects. In this type of league you can't be dropping kids like that and expect to compete. Yeah I wouldn't trade Hanley because of it. I would probably look to move Rodriguez or Chisenhall.

Question and choices... Look at the keepers how do they look. Do you think Perez or Chacin are worth keeping at $2 and $3. As far as Santos goes most teams don't keep RP's. So do you blow $3 on a possible one year wonder when you could get a better or just as good RP or holds guy in the draft or WW next season.

I wouldn't keep Chacin, but I would keep Santos.

This is the way I would go. I like all of those pitchers you are debating on. I would let someone else deal with Howard. He isn't worth $3 this year and i am not sure he will ever be again. Martin, Chisenhall, Chacin and Britton are over-priced and/or unlikely to be more than an avg player.
