Thank you in advance for any help that is given. I used to be into baseball but stopped in the late '90s. Now, my friends got me into fantasy baseball and I am starting to get back into it. The problems is that I've finished dead last the past few years and really want to be competitive. It is a keeper league, we get to keep four, so when I originally drafted my team had terrible players. Anyway, I had a fire sale last year because I was out of it inhopes that I'd have 4 strong keepers this year. I'll provide a list of players I have that are worth keeping and I hope I can get some help as to which 4 you experts would keep.
C - Buster Posey 1B - Joey Votto 2B - Robinson Cano OF - Carl Crawford SP - Clayton Kershaw
I think those are the only players worth mentioning. I also have guys like Mike Trout, Justin Smoak, Drew Stubbs, Michael Young, Brandon Morrow, Jordan Zimmerman and Jair Jurrgens.
I am leaning towards Votto, Cano, Crawford and Kershaw. Not sure if a top tier C is worth keeping. THis is a 12 man league and I will have the #4 pick in this year's draft. I might be able to get Posey at #4 if he is worth it. I don't think any catchers will be kept. Maybe Mauer because the guy that owns him is a Twins homer.
Posey is definitely worth keeping but not over such strong keepers as the other four. Catcher is pretty deep this year; there's a good chance with only 4 keepers per team you can snag a good one. Votto/Cano/Crawford/Kershaw is an incredibly good, solid foundation. Stick with that and build around it.
I would keep Votto, Cano, Crawford and Kershaw. 3 are studs and Crawford hould rebound and could have a tremendous year in that lineup. Posey is an easy drop, personally i dont feel he is a top tier catcher, and he should be available later than round 1.
Also welcome to the cafe. An excellent place to get some good information and help you turn your team around. Don't be afraid to ask us anything, everybody here is very friendly and we enjoy helping others become dorks like us.
As for keepers, you have the right 4. One thing I would look into though, is seeing if you could deal Posey, Crawford and Trout for a better keeper. This is generally hard to do as most teams don't want to deal before the draft but if another team has weak keepers, they might be willing to deal you something for those three guys. The reason I say this, is that I am not sold on Crawford having a bounce back season. If I could move him for something similar in value but a lot safer, I would.
