R. Zimmerman for A. Gordon, Haren, Jurrjens

Postby Arrowhead Nation » Mon Jan 02, 2012 7:15 pm

14-team 7x7 roto
15-man keeper

My roster
C-Lavarnway
1B-Cabrera, Lind
2B-Pedroia, Dan. Murphy (IF)
3B-Zimmerman
SS-Al. Ramirez
OF-Victorino, Swisher, Duda, Stubbs, Melky

SP-Lester, Greinke, Marcum, Buerhle, Wandy, S. Baker, McCarthy, Nova, Billingsley
RP-Street, K-Rod, Melancon, G. Holland, A. Vizcaino

A guy has offered me Haren, Gordon and Jurrjens for Zimmerman. I know I need OF help and could use the SP upgrade, but with the scarcity at 3B, I am really questioning what I should do. This other team also has Kershaw, Hanson, Beachy, Garza & Cahill as SPs.

Should I stand pat or not? Will be glad to help in return.

I'd stand pat. Zimmerman is too valuable here and your staff doesn't need the upgrade that badly.

I would say pass as well. In a 14 team league, 3B is hard to find. Either he has to up his offer by giving you a better SP Jurrjens and a better hitter than Gordon or look somewhere else. I just don't think it is worth giving up a guy that has the upside Zimmerman has for 2 ok players and 1 good player.

I am not against trading Zimmerman, as he has shown no ability to stay healthy (and I do consider this a skill). You just have to get full value for him.

I don't hate the trade for you but as others have said, your staff is pretty good which makes this package a little less appealing. I love Haren though. Instead of 3 for 1 does he have a better offensive player than Gordon you could get with Haren and just forget about Jurrjens? I'd consider that as Zimmerman has just been too brittle to trust.

Does he have a replacement 3B to offer you in a similar package?? I like you getting Haren and Gordon, if you can replace Zimm with a workable 3B even if they aren't sexy it might make your team better overall.

All he has is Emilio Bonafacio....and of course I have Daniel Murphy.

The other potential SP he could give me is Beachy or Hanson. What this really comes down to is my OF. Swisher and Victorino are pretty unspectacular players, and I would have a LOT riding on Duda if I don't do this deal.

But what would you have to rely on at 3B? I think it would be easier to find an OF replacement than at 3B. I like Gordon and all but I am not confident that he figured everything out and will be a solid OF for you. Right now Zimmerman is a pretty solid 3B so I would look to get something just as solid somewhere else.

His OFers are fairly studly....Cargo, McCutcheon, Stanton, with Francouer and Gordon.

His IF goes 1B Butler 2B Utley SS Hanley, with Wieters @ C. he obviously is looking for the last piece of the puzzle. That is the other reason why I am wavering. We both finished in the top 4 teams in 2011, and with 3B being so shallow, I almost feel like I can't deal Zim to him no matter what the price is. I doubt he would do a Gordon/Kershaw or Cargo/Haren -- and due to scarcity, as awesome as that sounds, I'm not sure I would want to do it.
