help with keeper

Postby scvintage » Mon Jan 02, 2012 1:47 am

scoring system is custom (1b 1, 2b 2, 3b 3, hr 4, rbi 1, runs 1, sb 1)

options are castro
m young (this year he will qualify at 2b, 3b, 1b, dh in our league)
crawford

positions c, 1b, 2b, ss, 3b, 3 of's, dh
This is a 10 team league

I am already keeping a 1b. every team keeps 2 offensive players so these are basically your first 2 rounds of draft.

thanks

Not great options, but based on those three I think you have to keep Crawford. He has by far the biggest upside.

I'm not an expert on points leagues, but it seems like that scoring system heavily favors power hitters. 2 points for doubles, 4 for HR, and only 1 point for a SB. Guy who hits 40 HR, 160 points. Guy who steals 40 bags, 40 points. Maybe that's not the right way to look at it? But based on that, I'd shy away from Crawford. Could you post how the top guys stacked up in terms of points last year? Or how just those 3 did?

With those options it has to be Crawford although I agree with Lane that his value is reduced in your pt system. Do you have any power bats to choose from?

young was the 4th highest 2b - 450 pts - top was 500
2nd ranked 3b - only 40 pts behind batista
6th ranked 1b

starlin 3rd ss - 50 pts behind 1st (tulow)

crawford had 250 pt - top was 500 (ellsbury)

thanks for all the advice....i realize my options aren't great but based on this i was leaning toward young or starlin.

That was last year though. You want the best for 2012. I would agree with the guys saying Crawdord. Highest upside if he bounces back, which I think he does somewhat.

Take a look at Crawford's 2010 point totals so you can see what's possible if he bounces back which I expect.
