Benitez is still the closer until further notice. I don't think Benitez owners have to worry about him not closing this year. If I hear anything otherwise I'll post it.

What's the status with closer in San Diego? Should I jump on Herges or Wright?

If you were to pick up closers for fantasy baseball... who would be the top pick(s) right now?

Benitez is horrible...
but u can't argue his 8 saves
or 9...who knows
nobody in that Mets bullpen can close out a game...
they're next best bet is Strickland...and that's shady
just hold onto Armando and be happy....unless blown saves count against u.

There continues to be rumors of change in both the Red Sox and Cubs bullpens.
Robert Person is being activated form the DL and apparently is a strong candidate to take the closer job away from Lyon. It's probably a couple weeks away from happenning, but I'm desperate enough to do it. If you have room on the DL, grab him and stash him before he comes off.
Antonio Alfonseca is pitching well, and is about one Borowski blown save away from getting at least some of the saves.
I'm done playing around with the SD and STL closer situations. Izzy is back soon, and Hoffman may be back this year as well. Even if he isn't the Padres stink and there won't be enough saves for these committee losers to merit bothering with them anyway.
If I get the Red Sox and/or Cubs closer for the better part of the season, I can compete for the top spot instead of 3rd place.
EDIT: 5/31/03
...on to plan B
