I couldn't figure out how to sticky this thread, but here is the edited final/semifinal list of pre-season (edit: not pre-season anymore) probables for each team's closer:

NL EAST

Atlanta Braves- John Smoltz
New York Mets- Armando Benitez
Florida Marlins- Braden Looper
Philadelphia Phillies- Jose Mesa
Montreal Expos- Rocky Biddle

NL CENTRAL

St.Louis Cardinals- Steve Kline until Jason Isringhausen is back
Houston Astros- Billy Wagner
Cincinnati Reds- Scott Williamson
Chicago Cubs- Joe Borowski (Alfonseca DL)
Pittsburgh Pirates- Mike Williams
Milwaukee Brewers- Mike DeJean

NL WES

San Francisco Giants- Tim Worrell (Nen will have surgery)
Los Angeles Dodgers- Eric Gagne
Arizona Diamondbacks- Matt Mantei
San Diego Padres- Brandon Villafuerte
Colorado Rockies- Jose Jimenez

AL EAST

New York Yankees- Juan Acevedo (Rivera on DL)
Boston Red Sox- Closer by comitee (Fox,Timlin,Lyon) (Embree on DL)
Toronto Blue Jays- Kelvim Escobar

post updates and comments here... if someone wants to add a list of probable replacements (such as Nunez and Spooneybarger for Looper, Remlinger for Alfonseca, etc...), we could add to that list as well in this topic

To sticky a thread hit the edit button on the first post and then below the Preview and Submit buttons you will see options for Normal, Announcement, and Sticky, something like that...change it to sticky and hit Submit and you should be all set. ;-)

So sticky, i guess u assume we don't do our homework. Save that post, id like to compare it to save leaders at the end of the year.

Like I said before. I think having this is a good idea. It will help when closers get hurt, falter or get traded.

Oliver Perez may be Hoffman's sub in SD and is Mantei completely healthy, I hadn't heard

Being a Padre fan I really doubt they would take Perez out of the rotation since he's one of our top 3 starters.

Im in Boston and I really dont think Embree is going to be the closer. He is the only lefty in the pen. I think Chad Fox is the darkhorse on this one, but mgmt seems pretty enthusiastic about the commitee approach.
