20 team keeper: Porcello or Peacock

Postby bigieshake » Sun Jan 01, 2012 4:09 pm

Hi everybody! Happy New Year! looking forward to an awesome 2012.

Just wanted to get your guys opinions on who is a better keeper moving forward this 2012.

I like the fact the Brad Peacock is now on the A's, but I also like the fact that Porcello has had a couple of years in and hopefully has learned some new things...right? :-S

Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,
Ed

Hard to say for sure without knowing all your league's settings, etc., but I think I go for Peacock.

He's gonna get you more Ks, and his ratios are likely to be helped by that park and division (helloooo, Astros!). I feel like he's got the better fantasy upside.

It's pretty close. They both have really intriguing minor league histories. Porcello was a top prospect and had vastly better scouting reports, but has not lived up to expectations. He's very young, though, and it's easy to imagine him figuring it out at some point. Peacock only really has the one breakout minor league season, but he seemed to hold his own when he got called up. I'm not sure being traded to Oakland helps his value. It's a good stadium to pitch in, but he'll also be facing AL hitters, in particular the Angels and Rangers a fair amount.

Any info on league settings would be appreciated. If you use extra categories that could swing it in one direction.

If you could find an owner in your league that agrees with this, then keep Peacock and trade him to that owner, otherwise keep Porcello, at least he'll get 200 innings and 100 K's.

I think I would take Porcello. He has more upside and is still very young. I still believe he will figure things out. Peacock just hasn't shown me enough to believe in him yet.

Thanks everybody for the responses. I will continue to keep Porcello. I'm going to try and trade Peacock for a draft pick. Happy new year!
