Help with Keepers

Postby kemper1971 » Sat Dec 31, 2011 8:34 pm

12 team, 5x5, $$, keeper, 26 rd draft league.. Need help to see if these guys are worth keeping in their rounds..

Joe Mauer 3rd round..Does he bounce back to his .330Ave,15 HR,80 RBI,90 Run days?

Andrew Bailey 8th rd..Is he worth keeping in the 8th rd? Is he automatically a sub 2.90 era, 35+ sv guy that can hang in the AL east?

JJ Putz 6th rd. Does he even come close to his 45 sv, 2.17 ERA 2011 season? Is he worth a 6th rd keep?

Thanks!

I wouldn't keep any of those guys at the round you have them listed for.

All of those players can be had at least a few rounds later, imo...I'd throw them back.

I like that list, but am a tad conserned on Asdubral Cabrera..Is he going to do anything close to his 2011 year, or go back to the 9 HR, 56 RBI, 50 Run, .270 players he's shown the last 2 years prior..I could have a stud closer in Bailey and take his in the 8th rd knowing he has all the making of a top 3 closer now with Boston.. Also, taking 3 stud closers and a #1 Starter gives my pitching a huge kick start right off..I know Im covered with Saves and can focus on just the Bats in the 1st 6-8 rounds.. Also, I forgot to mention IF Ryan Madson goes and Closes to the Angels..I can take keep him in the 26th round!

No way do you keep Bailey. As-Cab only costs you a 19th round pick so you aren't giving up much by keeping him. Saves are too easy to find during the year. Don't waste early rounds on them.

If you feel that way about Asdrubal keep him and trade him early. Most of the rest of the league won't have any problem making it worth your while. If Madson gets a gig to himself you keep him instead of Santos, theres no reason to keep 3. You don't have to concern yourself with closers in the draft already

Wrong...Santos K's people at a rate that is great to have. Think Marmol of 2 years ago could easily be Santos this year. Santos is gonna be huge and undervalued this season.
