In Quentin, the Padres also bring home a year-round San Diego resident who has lived in the county since he was 4 ½. “I’m already here,” Quentin responded Saturday when asked about returning to San Diego. “I’ve always called San Diego home. I was here when Petco Park was being built.” Raised in the South Bay, Quentin was a three-sport standout at the University of San Diego High and was named the San Diego High School Athlete of the Year in 2000.
is there a difference in RF/LF in PETCO? 2011 he played 102 games in RF, 15 games at DH. 2010 he played 104 games in RF, 23 games at DH. 2009 he played 89 games in LF, 9 games at DH. 2008 he played all season in LF

Very slim, unless the Pads are contending in July.
I hope that there is a separate announcement that they are moving the fences in at Petco because these moves are killing my fantasy team. Alonso, quentin and tweener keeper Blanks (24 tms).
This move and the early Garza rumors are telling me that there was a reason that Latos was moved that isn't baseball related.

those odds are very slim
I guess you haven't paid much attention to the NL West the last 10 years.

I agree. He looks like a big time 420 guy. Padres got a potential deal where all 4 players could pan out successfully and they get rid of a head case. The move helps Cincinnati and to credit Dusty Baker he has become more selective with the usage of young pitchers over the years. A change of scenery may do him good.
Quentin is an improvement but could he be Ryan Ludwick part 2? Padres better hope not.
