Mixed league,15 teams, 29 man rosters with 24 active players and 5 reserves, no DL spots, with 260 dollar salary cap, 5x5 roto style league We keep 5 players per year in which after their first year on your team you can freeze his salary at what he went for in the draft the year before. After his second year if you keep him his salary goes up 5 dollars and after his third year he can't be kept and goes back into the draft pool. For example, I have Cano(3) and Weaver(3) that unfortunately have to go back into the auction this season.
Here is my team and the years I have had them next to their names. Which 5 should I keep?
C-Ronny Paulino(1)-$3 C-Josh Thole(1)-$5 1B-Miggy(1)-$46 1B-Chris Davis(1)-$13 2B-Cano-can't keep 3B-Eduardo Nunez(1)-$3 3B-Infante(1)-$7 SS-Jeter(1)-$13 MI-Kelly Johnson(2)-$8(if kept would be $13) OF-Abreu(1)-$11 OF-Crawford(2)-$41 OF-Gardner-(1)-$16 OF-Seth Smith(1)-$23 OF-Chris Young(2)-$11(If kept would be $16) UTI-Betancourt(1)-$2 BN-Murphy(1)-$3 BN-Morrison(1)-$4 BN-Trout(1)-$3
P-Bard(1)-$3 P-Bedard(1)-$6 P-Dempster(1)-$13 P-Humber(1)-$8 P-Lilly(1)-$10 P-Nathan(1)-$11 P-Scherzer(2)-$14(If kept would be $19) P-Pavano(1)-$2 P-Weaver-Can't keep BN-Phil Hughes(1)-$11 BN-Jonathan Niese(1)-$9
Miggy 1B (1)-$46 - Absolute stud with a reasonable price. Your team lacks a lot of high end talent, so best keep Miggy.
Gardner OF (1)-$16 - Decent player with a good price for a 15 team league. Should get you lots of runs and SB at the top of the Yankee order.
Scherzer SP (2)-$14(If kept would be $19) - I think Max has some talent and could be a bargain at $14. Bonus- if he explodes in 2012, you can keep him again (at a good price) in 2013.
Bard SP/RP (1)-$3 - Bard looks to be a starter now. He had great stuff as a reliever, but we don't know if that will translate. At $3 I'm willing to speculate.
Trout OF (1)-$3 - If he starts or gets sufficient playing time, he could be very, very good.
The rest of your guys didn't jump out at me as being great keepers. This set doesn't cost too much money and has good upside in all players, except Miggy (who earns his salary) and Gardner (who could earn his salary, earn more, or bust).
Yeah..not a ton of great keepers. I'd pretty much agree with Urban. But I would consider Chris Young as a keeper. In a 15 team league, you have to consider a guy who could go 30-30 for you for $16 bucks. I'd keep him over everyone else but Cabrera. Yeah he may hit .250 or worse, but he is the only guy on your roster with even a chance at going 30-30

Ya, pretty much agree with this. I don't think Scherzer is worth near $19 so I'd keep Chris Young over him. The other options are not so good.

I'm with the dude on this one. I think Urban has it right, but I would keep the guy with 30-30 potential, Scherzer definatley has upside but at that price you can get other pitchers w/ upside or who are a lil more consistent.
Morrison isn't a bad cheap option in a 15 team 5 OF league where you just don't want to have to keep players you wouldn't bid that much on again. 23 HR last yr from the kid on an improved Marlin squad. he'd make my 5...

Good call, I didn't even notice him. I'd keep him over Gardner.
1B-Miggy(1)-$46 OF-Gardner-(1)-$16 BN-Morrison(1)-$4 BN-Trout(1)-$3 P-Bedard(1)-$6 P-Scherzer(2)-$14(If kept would be $19)
These are the six guys I would think about. I think Bedard is the odd man out even though his salary is very nice for a guy that is a pretty decent SP when healthy.
As another note, there is no way I would spend $3 on Bard. He has shown no ability to handle the SP job and imagine he will be out of the job almost immediately if not before the season starts.
